Future

Hello!

There are different types to express a future action:

-With present simple: timetables.
The tren arrives at ten o'clock.

-With present continuos: It is certain that it happens:
I am playing tennis with your little sister this afternoon.

-With going to: plan or future actions.
I'm going to travel around the world next summer.

-With will: predictions, offers or actions that you decide to do at the moment of speaking.
It will rain tomorrow. / I will close the window.

-Future perfect simple: suj+will have+ participe.
To talk about actions that have been finished in the future.
Ex: Next week, I'll have travelled to Paris.

-Future continuos: suj+will be+verb with -ing.
To talk about actions that we are going to do in the future.
Ex: I'll be doing my homework when the film starts.

I wish/ If only

Hi again!

To express a wish we can express by different forms:

-Wish about an irreal decision: I wish+suj+past simple.
I wish I were rich (but I am not).

-Wish in the past: I wish+ suj+ past perfect.
I wish I had learnt English when I was younger (but I didn't).

-Wish about an annoy situation or the weather: I wish+suj+would+infinitive.
I wish you would stop making that noise.

Here are some examples: Exercise 1

Conditional sentences

Hello!

There are four types of conditional sentences:

-Type 0: If+suj+present simple, suj+present simple.
Ex: If you boil the water, It boils.

-Type 1: If+suj+present simple, suj+ will+infinitive.
To talk about predictions or something that will be happen certain.
Ex: If it rains, I will stay at my home.

-Type 2: If+suj+past simple, suj+would+infinitive.
To talk about wishes, dreams or something we want to happen.
Ex: If I won the lottey, I would buy a new car.

-Type 3: If+suj+ past perfect simple, suj+would have+participle.
To talk about the impossibility of something had been happened.
Ex: If I had been an astronaunt, I would have travelled to the moon.

In these, "will" or "would" can be changed for: could, may, might...
"If" also can be changed for: provided that, as long as, supossed that...
Unless is frecuently to be in the first conditional and it replace if+not. For example:
If it doesn't rain, I'll go to the beach= Unless rains, I'll go to the beach.
In addition, we can change the order of the sentences, but we haven't to put a comma. For example:
I would take a lot of photos if I went to London.

Here there are many examples to practise it:

Writing Unit 6

Dear Helen

My english teacher suggest writing to a student in India with the objetive to improve the language. That's such a good idea, isn't it?.

In the first place, my name is Ana and I'm sixteen years old. I live in Tomelloso which is a small town in Spain. The thing which I like best is reading books. I find it exciting that you can imagine their characters and stories on your head. What about you? Do you like reading books or doing some sports?.

Secondly, I'm a happy and sociable person. I love making friends and talking with them. The only thing I hate is that people don't tell the truth. Are you agree with me?.

I'll hope your letter enthusiastically!

Ana
